Tasdance’s MAKE Choreographic Intensive returns in 2025 with acclaimed choreographer and composer Alisdair Macindoe at the helm for a bold new collaboration. Fresh from its international appearance at Noorderzon Festival, Groningen, Plagiary lands in Launceston as the launchpad for its Playing Australia tour—a celebration of innovation, process, and performance.
WHO IS THIS FOR? Independent dance artists and performers with an appetite for creative experimentation, digital integration, and group process who value concept-driven dance and working cohesively in groups.
Tasmanian artists and artists from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
DATES: Monday 1st — Saturday 6th of December 2025
VENUE: Assembly 197 Studio, 197 Wellington Street & The Annexe Theatre, UTAS, Launceston
WHAT TO EXPECT: Monday-Wednesday: Over three whirlwind days, Alisdair will guide performers through his acclaimed collaborative methodology, sharing tools and processes for bringing Plagiary to life. This unique work features live, AI-generated choreographic instructions, enabling artists to co-create and perform the show with just three days of rehearsal and knowledge exchange.
Thursday: A day with Tasdance, featuring workshops and local adventures.
Friday & Saturday: The intensive culminates in a season of public performances where participants take centre stage in Alisdair’s pioneering, carbon-sensitive work—integrating technology, adaptation, and shared authorship in real time
HOW MUCH: This intensive opportunity is supported by Tasdance and offered FREE of charge, with a paid honorarium for participants performing days. Unfortunately, Tasdance can not cover travel and accommodation expenses.
