This professional duet uses slinkys as tactile partners to explore analogue play and the human need for connection in a world shaped by screens. Two dancers negotiate tension, resistance, and release, making relationships visible through physical cause and effect.

MEET THE ARTISTS
ADAM WHEELER
Adam is a Tasmanian-born Stompin and Victorian College of the Arts Alumni. Adam has performed with Chunky Move, Jo Lloyd, Circa Nica, 2NDTOE, and Opera Australia. He has created work for Lucy Guerin Inc. (Pieces for Small Spaces), Stompin, QL2, Steps Youth Dance Company, fLing Physical Theatre, Tasdance, and Chunky Move. As an Artistic Director, he founded Yellow Wheel (2012) and 2NDTOE (2007). Led the Australian Youth Dance Festival in 2014 and 2017, The Space School of Performance Arts, and Short+Sweet Dance.
Adam is currently the Executive Director of Assembly 197 and holds the Tasdance, Artery, and Hub Portfolios. Adam is curious about interdisciplinary making, providing pathways for artists to develop practice and getting the community moving - all from his regional home of Lutruwita/Tasmania.
IZZY LOCKETT
Izzy is a Contemporary dancer currently living in Lutruwita/Tasmania. She studied Contemporary Dance at Transit Dance in Naarm/Melbourne, graduating in 2022. Her training was under the directorship of Paul Malek and Bradley Chatfield.
Izzy is currently working with the creative team at Tasdance. Highlights include recent performances in Alisdair Macindoe’s PLAGIARY and collaboration as an artist on BEACON. Izzy teaches regular workshops at the Ashley Youth Detention Centre, the Smiths Family program, and classes through the Community Program.
Izzy is excited about future plans to travel internationally, immersing herself more deeply in the world of Contemporary dance and strengthening and refining her individual style.
LILY ALCOCK
Lily Alcock is a contemporary movement artist born and based in Lutruwita/ Tasmania. After graduating from Ev&Bow in 2021, Lily has continued to undertake diverse freelance work between Tasmania, Sydney and Adelaide; with the likes of Second Echo Ensemble, MONA, Lina Limosani, Anton, Paulina Quinteros, Dance For Parkinson’s Australia, DRILL and Lux Eterna.
As the recent recipient of the 2024 Annie Greig Scholarship, Lily undertook six months of international professional development and performances across India, Berlin, Prague, Italy and Los Angeles, with the likes of Kalakeli Arts, B12 Mavericks, Akira Yoshida, Ferus Animi//Terra Nova, ATE9 Dance and Jacob Jonas The Company.
Lily recently performed in Alisdair Macindoe’s PLAGIARY with Tasdance. Her creative practice is centred on further inquiry into the internal kinaesthetic sensations and the external physicality of movement produced in flow
SARAH GROTH
Sarah Groth’s practice is rooted in place and landscape. Her work spans improvisation, choreography, writing, and mixed-media visual art, grounded in a deep love of the Earth and shaped by diverse geographical and cultural experiences. Born and raised on Tiwa homelands in New Mexico, Groth holds a BA in Contemporary Dance and Intercultural Communications from the University of New Mexico and the University of Nicosia, Cyprus. After several years travelling, collaborating, teaching, and creating across Europe and Asia, she is now based in Lutruwita/Tasmania.
Sarah collaborates with Tasdance, most recently performing in Alisdair Macindoe’s PLAGIARY and Tasdance’s BEACON. She teaches community classes, facilitates the ARTERY education programs, and works within youth justice contexts. Her socially engaged practice is continually inspired by young people and focuses on regional practice, community connection, and movement grounded in place
