tuylupa at Mona Foma Postponed

Due to the current impacts of the COVID pandemic in Tasmania, tuylupa, the world premiere by pakana kanaplila and Tasdance, will no longer proceed this month.

The production was due to premiere at Earl Arts Centre in Launceston on Friday 21 January, before travelling to nipaluna / Hobart the following week as part of the Mona Foma 2022 program.

Whilst this is a very disappointing decision to have to make, our number one priority is the health and safety of our artists, their community, as well as our team and audiences.

This work is a community story, and the decision to present tuylupa later ensures the safety of our Elder’s. We will keep the fire burning! We thank Mona Foma for their ongoing support and care.

Brian Ritchie, Festival Director, Mona Foma, says: ‘We’ve spent many years working alongside pakana kanaplila and Tasdance to bring tuylupa to audiences, and while we are so very disappointed by the delay to this year’s production, we’re willing to wait a little longer to see it through. Mona Foma remains committed to presenting the work at a later date.

Ticketholders for all cancelled performances will be refunded by Mona Foma.

Mona Foma 2022 will take place from Friday 21 January through to Sunday 30 January 2022, with music and art taking place over two weekends—first in Launceston (Friday 21–Sunday 23 January) and then in nipaluna / Hobart (Friday 28–Sunday 30 January).
