A term used in physiotherapy to describe states of recovered movement, HYPER_mobile also suggests the obsessive electrified physicality of contemporary dance. A season of four stylistically unique works, HYPER_mobile show-cased some of the talent of Australia's up and coming choreographers.
The season received positive critical acclaim for it's ambitious choreographic dramatisation, expanding beyond what many think of as contemporary dance into a more theatrical realm.
Lucy Guerin's Gift, provided a good humoured and fresh look at the packing and commodification of the human body. Anna Smith's Mad Sky uncannily captured the tension preceding a thunder-storm. Michael O'Donoghue's Fantasy Masquade dealt with the predatory behaviour at a fancy dress ball, and Fiona Reilly's Nursery Mimes sensitively captured many aspects of childhood that are at once heart-warming and hilarious.
