Education Performance Project - Cross Currents
Tasdance’s annual Education Performance Project has become an integral part of the activities of many Tasmanian schools since it began over 14 years ago. The 2012 project is Cross Currents.
Now in its 15th year, this most successful and anticipated schools project aims to develop the technical skills and knowledge of secondary students and teachers. With contemporary dancers Dean Cross and Amelia McQueen, students will receive further technical understanding of contemporary technique. Workshops Feb 27 - March 23
Offered exclusively to Tasmanian secondary schools with a dance curriculum.
Cross Currents begins with workshops conducted throughout the state with Dean and Amelia. These are suited for grades 8-12. Participants in the workshop series, who are in grade 10 or above, are then invited to audition for a place in the performance company. Auditions will take place March 26 - 28 in Hobart, Launceston and the north-west coast. Bookings for these workshops are essential and to maximise your chances of receiving your preferred date please call or email the office by Monday 20 February.
Cost $175.00 per workshop.
Auditions
Students who participated in a Tasdance Schools Workshop and who are interested in being a part of Cross Currents are invited to attend one of the three auditions held across the state. Students must first complete and submit an online Audition Registration Form. Audition dates are below.

School Performances
Cross Currents performance bookings April 16 - 20: This student production is taken around the state featuring the talents of the selected young dancers who with Amelia and Dean will create new choreography utilising a fusion of dance forms. This show is appropriate for students of all ages. Book in early for both the workshops and performances as this is normally a sell out!

Cost: $8 and one free teacher admission per 20 students.
